Regional Subsidiaries & Other Entities
The City of Burnside has four regional subsidiaries established under Section 43 of the Local Government Act 1999.
Eastern Waste Management Authority Inc. (East Waste)
The member Councils of East Waste are Burnside, Norwood, Payneham and St Peters, Walkerville, Mitcham, Campbelltown, Adelaide Hills. The Charter specifies the roles and responsibilities of the authority. The principal activity of the authority is to collect and dispose of each Council’s garbage. Highbury Landfill Authority
The City of Burnside is one of three member Councils of the Highbury Landfill Authority. The other member Councils are Norwood, Payneham and St Peters, and Walkerville. The Charter specifies the roles and responsibilities of the authority. The role of the Authority is to oversee and fund the rehabilitation of the Highbury Landfill site.

Eastern Health Authority Inc. (EHA)
The City of Burnside is one of five Councils of the Eastern Health Authority Inc. (EHA) The other Councils are Campbelltown, Norwood, Payneham and St Peters, Prospect and Walkerville. The Charter specifies the roles and responsibilities of the Authority. The principal activity of the authority is to provide public and environmental health services to the member Councils. ERA Water Regional Subsidiary
ERA Water Regional Subsidiary is made up with the other Councils of City of Norwood, Payneham and St Peters and the Town of Walkerville. The CEO of Burnside is our current representation on the board of ERA Water.
The purpose of ERA Water is for Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) - a system of harvesting, cleaning and injecting the cleaned water into acquifers for later. This allows Council to capture, treat, store and deliver stormwater for irrigation purposes at a cheaper rate than purchasing water from SA Water.
Burnside Retirement Services Incorporated (BRSI)
BRSI (trading as 'Pineview Village') is an incorporated body under the Associations Incorporations Act 1985 and provides retirement accommodation.
The City of Burnside is the sole member of the incorporated body. The 'Association' is managed and controlled by the Board, and Board members have a fiduciary duty to the incorporated body. The BRSI Board is required to function in accordance with its Rules and the Associations Incorported Act 1985.
The Association was created in 1990 to provide, maintain and manage residential, hostel and nursing home accommodation at 3 Conyngham Street, Glenside, for those persons of the age of 55 years and over and to engage in public benevolent activities by the provision, maintenance and management of the accommodation to persons whom the Board of management consider to be in necessitous circumstances.

Burnside War Memorial Hospital (BWMH)
The Burnside War Memorial Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital situated at 120 Kensington Road, Toorak Gardens. The land is Council owned and leased to the BWMH, pursuant to a registered lease, except for the western part of the site, which the Council manages, Attunga Gardens.
BWMH is an incorporated body with its Board and management structure. As stated in the Hospital's Constitution, the Council must appoint Board Members from time to time, having regard to the recommendations made by the Board and that the Council must provide notice to the Board for a new appointment or reappointment.
