Disclaimer

The City of Burnside is committed to providing greater accessibility to Council meetings through live streaming.  Council hopes that this will provide more flexible and convenient access to a wider audience, by allowing the public to watch meetings ‘in real time’ via the internet without the need to attend in person.  This provides the community greater access to viewing Council debate and decisions, eliminates geographic and time barriers which may prevent the public from attending meetings in person; thereby resulting in greater community awareness and confidence in the integrity and accountability of the decision making processes.

Live streams and archived recordings are a free public service and are not an official record of Council meetings. Recordings will be made of all Council meetings (excluding confidential items) and published to YouTube after the meeting.  For a copy of the official public record, please refer to the Agendas and Minutes page.  A copy of the minutes of each meeting will usually be available at close of business on the Friday following the meeting.

Privilege and protection

Attendance at Council meetings does not provide any Councillors, Council employees, or member of the public protection from defamation in relation to behaviour or statements made.

Individual opinions or statements made during the course of the Council meetings are not the opinions or statements of Council.

By participating in Council meetings, individuals consent to the use and disclosure of the information that they share at the Meeting (including any personal or sensitive information given), for the purposes of the Council carrying out its functions. Individuals also consent to the disclosure of that information to any person(s) who access live streaming or recordings of City of Burnside meetings.

Technical difficulties

While every effort will be made to ensure the live streaming is available, City of Burnside takes no responsibility for, and cannot be held liable for the live streaming, if YouTube is temporarily unavailable due to technical issues beyond its control.

Technical issues may include, but are not limited to:

  • the availability of the internet connection
  • device failure or malfunction
  • unavailability of social media platforms
  • power outages.

Please note that on some devices you may need to increase the YouTube video quality setting to have the best audio/video experience.
