Burnside 2030 Strategic Community Plan

Burnside 2030 is the City of Burnside’s Strategic Community Plan. It articulates Council’s vision, goals and priorities that guide decision making over a 10 year period, and represents a vision for the City of Burnside.

Informed by the community, it will guide some of our most important projects and programs and help us respond to emerging opportunities and challenges. This Plan builds on our past achievements in providing highly valued community services and identifying and preserving those qualities that are uniquely Burnside.

Burnside 2030 has been developed through consideration of regional, state and national objectives and substantial data and trend analysis. It considers the future composition of our community and emerging trends such as climate change, technology and demographic change.

The Plan has been informed by extensive community consultation. Feedback from hundreds of community members passionate about both the future of their City and the role that their local Council can play in preserving and enhancing it, has generated many ideas and critiques. Their high-level aspirations are expressed in the goals and accompanying priorities.

Delivering the Plan

Many of the priorities contained in Burnside 2030 will require a partnership approach with our community, stakeholders and all levels of government. Council will also work together with its subsidiaries to achieve the goals and priorities contained within this Plan.

Council’s Strategic Management Plans consist of, Burnside 2030, Asset Management Plans, and the Long- Term Financial Plan. These Strategic Management Plans will be supported by a hierarchy of Council strategies and policies which will be delivered through action plans, management plans, internal work plans and the Annual Business Plan and Budget.
