Work at the Regal Theatre - May 2016
The City of Burnside refurbished the Regal Theatre’s bathroom facilities in May 2016.
Originally built in 1925, the Regal Theatre, formally known as the Princess Theatre, Marryatville Ozone and The Chelsea Cinema, had an extensive refurbishment in 1941 and was altered to the current Art Deco style. The Regal Theatre is a State Heritage listed building and one of three relatively intact Art Deco Cinemas in the state.
The Council in conjunction with Kate MacDougall (Conservation and Heritage Consultant), Tom Baxter (Regal Theatre Manager), Bill Kay Architect and Heritage Stone Restoration took care and consideration to ensure the historic character of the Regal Theatre was maintained while improvements were made.
