Toy Library Story

The City of Burnside Toy Library recently received a grant through Toy Libraries Australia, funded by the Federal Department of Social Services, to produce a story-based guide to the Toy Library. The story is aimed at improving the experience of children with developmental delays and additional support needs, including ADHD and Autism.

The Story follows Fergus the blue puppet as he guides readers through the toy library, explaining everything they need to know about joining, borrowing, playing and returning the Toy Library resources. This story will help future visitors learn everything they need to know before they visit, with the hope it will reduce anxiety and make their Toy Library experience easier.

We hope that this book will help both our little and big members, especially those with a disability, be more comfortable visiting the toy library. In the coming months, we will be looking at producing the story in other languages.
