Is recreation swimming Free for Swim School students?

Yes. Free Entry for currently enrolled Swim School students remains.

When attending a recreation swim (outside of lessons):

  • Enrolled Swim School students: receive free entry to the Centre, with presentation of their Swim School pass. Normal entry fees apply for accompanying persons.
  • Enrolled Swim School students - Under 5 years: an accompanying adult is entitled to free entry, when attending with a currently enrolled child under 5 years.

In line with our Watch Around Water policy. Accompanying adults are required to enter the water with a child 4 years and under and remain within arm’s reach at all times. Supervision ratios apply.

  • Accompanying persons – all other accompanying persons are required to pay applicable entry fees upon arrival, including a spectator fee for non-swimmers.

(Valid missed lesson passes may also be used for entry).

Students enrolled into lessons throughout the season, receive free entry for recreation swimming for the duration of the current season. If a student withdraws from lessons, they will no longer be eligible for the free entry and normal fees apply.

Please note the swim school students’ free access is for individual public swimming only. Access to the Centre does not include Centre bookings such as; school recreation days, carnivals, sporting groups, clubs or other organised programs within the Centre.

What are the supervision rules?

The Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (GSPO) highlight the supervision ratio requirements for parents /carers while supervising children at the Centre. When visiting the Centre, the following ratios apply:

Children under 5 (0 – 4 years of age)

1 adult for every 2 children aged 0 - 4 years (this ratio includes babies in prams).

Children must be accompanied in the water at all times by an adult and remain within arms reach.

Children under 10 (5 – 9 years of age)

1 adult for every 4 children aged 5 - 9 years.

Children must be actively supervised at all times by an adult.

Please ensure you are aware of the ratios outlined and provide constant supervision.

What are the dates for Swim School terms?

Please refer to our website for all of the details on upcoming terms and programs.

When can I CONFIRM a previous enrolment?

If you were enrolled in the most recent term and would like to confirm the same day and time, please refer to Swim School Enrolments and look for ‘currently enrolled students’ – same class. Please contact the Centre within the appropriate dates to confirm your booking.

Can I CHANGE days for next term?

Yes. If you were enrolled in the most recent term and would like to change your lesson to a different day or time, please refer to our Swim School Enrolments and look for ‘currently enrolled students’ – different class. Please contact the Centre on the appropriate dates to change your booking.

When can NEW students enrol into the program?

Please see our Swim School Enrolments for enrolment dates and times. New students are those that were not enrolled into the previous Swim School term, including withdrawn students.

Do lessons run on public holidays?

Lessons do not operate on public holidays. The lesson fees are a pro rata amount, that will automatically reduce if your lesson falls on a public holiday.

Do you have make-up classes?

No, instead of make-up classes we offer missed lesson passes.

If the Centre is informed of a missed lesson, you will receive 3 missed lesson passes.

Each missed lesson pass is a complimentary visit to the Centre, valid for either child or adult entry. Missed lesson passes are valid for 3 years, from the date of issue.

There is a maximum of 2 missed lessons per student, per term (a total of 6 passes).

If I can’t make my lesson can I book into another time?

This is technically a make-up class. We offer missed lesson passes instead of make-up classes. This is because class ratios are small and enrolment rates can be high, making it difficult for families to book into an alternative class.

Does my child need an assessment?

To ensure your child is booked into the appropriate level, all students 4 years and over with previous swimming experience require an assessment; swimming lessons can be booked after your assessment. During assessments, parents will need to accompany any children under 5 years into the water, and remain within arms reach in line with the Centre’s ‘Watch Around Water’ program.

Please refer to Swim School Enrolments for assessment dates and details. Bookings can be made by calling the Centre on 8366 4290.

When do class assessments happen?

Students will be continually assessed throughout the term, by their qualified teacher. The Swim School supervisor on pool deck will also assess students regularly throughout the term. Skills within each level, will be marked off as they are achieved. Families are notified by the supervisor, when a student is ready to progress to the next level. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to the Swim School supervisor.

Do lessons continue when it is raining?

Yes, the pools are heated to 27°C (main pool) and 28°C (learner pool) so lessons can continue. Lessons will only be cancelled in extreme weather such as an electrical storm. When these closures impact on swimming lessons, where possible every effort will be made to inform participants via email.

In the event of lesson cancellation due to extreme weather, a lesson credit will be added to the account and may be used towards the following term.

Do you run private lessons?

Yes, private lessons may be run during the term program (weekly lessons). If you are interested in individual lessons please speak to the Swim School coordinator, as availability for times and days vary. Private lessons, if available may be booked for a minimum of 5x 30 minute sessions.

Private lesson fees are;

  • $60 for a one on one (minimum 5 x lessons) subject to program vacancies.
