The George Bolton Swimming Centre Burnside is a Watch Around Water endorsed pool and is committed to providing a safe and family friendly environment.

Safety in numbers - pool supervision ratios

As per Royal Life Saving Society's Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation, the Centre requires a minimum Adult : Child ratio.

Children under 5  (0 – 4 years of age)

Ratio - 1 adult: 2 children aged between 0 - 4 years (this ratio includes babies in prams).

Children UNDER 5 must be accompanied in the water, constantly supervised and remain within arm's reach of a responsible adult at all times (in and out of the water).

Children under 10 (5 – 9 years of age)

Ratio - 1 adult: 4 children aged between 5 - 9 years.

Children UNDER 10 must be actively supervised by an adult at all times.
