Heritage Reference Group

The City of Burnside Heritage Reference Group was established in 2020 to discuss and suggest strategies and projects that identify, promote, preserve and enhance our City’s built and cultural heritage. The Reference Group provide advice and feedback to Council on developing, implementing and monitoring strategies and programs focused on conserving, enhancing and promoting the City's history and heritage.

The Reference Group acknowledges that the City of Burnside is on the Traditional Country of the Kaurna People of the Adelaide Plain and recognises and respects Kaurna cultural heritage and the relationship that the Kaurna People have with the land. The Reference Group seeks counsel from the Kaurna community when considering the preservation and promotion of the City’s history and heritage.

Membership is made up of:

  • Up to three City of Burnside Council Members (including the Mayor);
  • A representative of the Burnside Historical Society;
  • At least three community members with broad knowledge and expertise in natural and cultural heritage.

Council staff also attend to provide professional advice to the Reference Group.

Meetings are held quarterly.
