Step into Burnside

Billion Steps Challenge

Join the 2024 South Australian Billion Steps Challenge!

Let's step up together, Burnside! Be part of the 2024 South Australian Billion Steps Challenge and take strides toward better health. Every step counts, and this November, we are aiming to collectively reach one billion steps.

Why Join?

Tracking your steps is a simple and effective way to stay motivated and active each day. The Billion Steps Challenge, running from 1 November to 30 November 2024, invites all South Australians to step up and contribute to a healthier lifestyle. Sign up for free through the 10,000 Steps platform and log your daily steps or sync your activity tracker. Whether it is regular breaks from sitting at the computer, parking further away, a planned walk with a friend, wheeling around the neighbourhood or trying a new activity on the weekend, there are always opportunities to move. The more we move, the better we feel!

How to Get Involved

  1. Register for free on the 10,000 Steps website.
  2. After you have registered. Ensure you sign up to the Step into Burnside Tournament, so your steps count towards the Challenge and you are eligible for an award.
  3. Track your daily steps or sync your activity tracker to the platform. More information on how to do this

Make the most of what Burnside has to offer

While contributing to the Steps Challenge check out some of our beautiful reserves and trails:

  • Michael Perry Botanic Reserve: Located in Stonyfell, this iconic reserve is a favourite among walkers. Stroll along the picturesque Second Creek and immerse yourself in nature as you log your steps in this serene setting.
  • Pioneer Women’s Trail: Begin your journey at Brock Reserve on Dashwood Road and follow the historic Pioneer Women’s Trail. For a shorter circuit, take the zigzag trail down from Gleeson Ridge to Hayward Drive, with on-road linkages leading you back to your starting point. It’s a beautiful blend of history and nature, perfect for stepping through the challenge.
  • Burnside Historic Walking Trails: The Mount Osmond and Chambers Gully reserves are perfect for a walking adventure. Convenient for residents of Beaumont, Glen Osmond, St Georges, Burnside, and Waterfall Gully, these trails are also easily accessible by car or public transport. Explore the rich history and scenic beauty of these areas while reaching your daily step goals.
