Citizen of the Year Awards

Every year, the City of Burnside celebrates and recognises outstanding contributions to the Community through the Citizen of the Year awards.

Award nomination categories:

  • Citizen of the Year Award - The most outstanding Citizen who through their significant contribution to the local community is an inspirational role model for the broader Australian community.
  • Young Citizen of the Year Award - A young citizen who through their significant contribution to the local community is an inspirational role model for the broader Australian community.
  • Active Citizenship - A person or group who has demonstrated leadership and involvement in and for the community that has had a significant or meaningful impact.

To be eligible, a nominee must be an Australian citizen (except for the Award for Active Citizenship) and either reside within the City of Burnside or have made a significant contribution to the Burnside community above and beyond employed duties. 2024 Citizen of the Year Award nominations open on 16 October and close on 26 November 2023. The awards will be presented in January 2024.
