Graffiti Removal
Graffiti occurring on public property needs to be removed as quickly as possible. Rapid removal has shown to reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Council’s graffiti volunteers aim to have all offensive graffiti removed from Council property within two days and non-offensive within five working days.
Private Property Graffiti Removal
Residents who have offensive graffiti on their property can lodge a service request on Action Burnside.
Prior to removing the offensive graffiti the owner of the property must submit a Consent Form giving permission for Council to assist. Depending on the type of surface affected, the graffiti will either be painted over or removed using proven substances and high pressure water spray.
The City of Burnside are unable to assist with removal of graffiti from private property unless it is offensive in nature. Graffiti on private property is the responsibility of the property owner to remove.
Report Graffiti on Public Property
Burnside Council has a team of volunteers to remove graffiti from public property throughout the Burnside area. The graffiti program was developed by the Council in response to the increasing incidence and cost of graffiti attacks.

Graffiti attack on Council assets
Over the weekend of 31 July 2022 graffiti damage was caused to several public and Council assets, including cars and the community bus. Our incredible Volunteer Graffiti Removal Team got to work quickly and removed the graffiti from these assets.
Council CEO Chris Cowley said he was disappointed to see graffiti damage caused to public and Council property.
“This senseless vandalism of public and Council property is very disappointing. This matter has been reported to the police as it is a criminal act, with the aim that these perpetrators will be caught and punished,” Mr Cowley said.
“On behalf of Council and the City of Burnside community I would like to thank our amazing group of Graffiti removal volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure that any graffiti in the City of Burnside is removed a swiftly as possible.”
Please remember that graffiti is a criminal act, and if you see it please report it to the police and to Council at Action Burnside online.
