The successful volunteer/s for this position is required for the following Book Discussion Group:

  • Volunteer (1) Facilitator for Fiction and Non Fiction reading group - group meets on the 3rd Thursday each month at 7pm - 9pm in the Library (Book Group#201)

Responsibilities:

  • The book discussion group meetings will be held in the Burnside Library Living Room/Meeting Room
  • The Volunteer Facilitator would need to set up the table (get the next book set ready to give out to members, remove books not taken on the Book Group holds shelf, advise those not able to attend to collect their book and anything else needed to make the meeting and the group run well).
  • Communicating to the members once or twice a month via email is required and any changes to the group members need to be passed on to the Library Officer.
  • The Volunteer Facilitator would need to read the suggested books for the group discussion (start the discussion and ask questions about the book) to keep the meeting interesting.
  • Communication to the Library Officer regarding the program and its members is vital.
  • Current Police Check

Requirements:

  • Fluent in English 
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • The Volunteer Facilitator needs to have an interest in literary fiction and light non fiction
  • Be available once a month for the book discussion at the designated time for a couple of hours
  • To read the book for each month and formulate questions for the discussion as needed
  • Create an annual program with the Library Officer, with suggestions from the group members
  • Long term volunteer
