Interested in volunteering at the Pepper Street Arts Centre? Even if we don’t have the spot right now, the Centre encourages you to be in touch for a chat about what volunteering entails, should an opening arise. Basic requirements are: customer interaction in person, and from time to time by phone; being comfortable to handle cash and eftpos sales; being comfortable with moving about – might be in relation to reception desk tasks, gift shop duties, or Dorrit’s Coffee Shop service; working in a self sufficient but supported environment; flexible with a variable pace from busy to quiet in response to visitor needs; values the place of creative endeavours in our community.
If you are comfortable with the following combination of requirements, this might be for you:
- face to face communications in a public space
- Reception/administrative duties
- kitchen/coffee shop service and upkeep
- following procedures (including COVID safety)
- willing to 'jump in' to assist with varied housekeeping tasks,
- happy with a pace that can be busy to quiet,
- varied shift (may be in a relief capacity to start),
- comfortable with email rostering.
In return we provide an enjoyable environment, supportive 'on the job' training by onsite staff with a view to independence in the role, shifts that generally 3-4 hours, a great local community.
