Lost & Found Pets
Lost Dogs/Cats
Phone us on 8366 4200 to report a lost dog/cat.
We recommend you also contact:
- The Animal Welfare League on 8348 1300 or view the AWL Council Found Pets Listing
- RSPCA on 1300 477 722
- Local veterinary clinics
- You may also consider placing notices on public notice boards, or doing a letter box drop in your local area (please do not place signs on the Stobie poles).
To make sure you are reunited with your dog/cat as soon as possible, please ensure your pet always wears its collar and registration tag, and if microchipped, your details are kept up-to-date. It is also a good idea to have a disc on their collar with the pet’s name, your phone number and current address.
Found Dogs
Phone us on 8366 4200 if you find a dog wandering. Council officers will attempt to pick up wandering dogs as soon as possible after notification.
Once the dog has been picked up, Council will attempt to locate the owner (should the dog have a disc). If the owner is located then they are returned and an expiation notice may be issued. If the owner is not home a card is left in their letterbox and dog is taken to the Animal Welfare League located at 1-19 Cormack Rd Wingfield, phone (08) 8348 1300.
If unclaimed, the dog will become the property of the Animal Welfare League after 72 hours. Before an impounded dog can be released, proof of ownership and payment is required to be made at the Civic Centre at 401 Greenhill Road, Tusmore.
