Floodplain Mapping
Burnside has recently updated its floodplain mapping of all catchments within the City. The primary purpose of this mapping is to determine the likely extent of inundation and potential hazards resulting from a series of designated storm events within the catchments. The outcome of this floodplain mapping will be used for future planning of mitigation options that reduce the consequences of flooding as well as identify predicted flood depths at existing problem areas and flood forecasting/warning in critical locations.
You can use the maps to check how your property may be affected in a flood event. The flood events that have been mapped include a 1 in 20 year flood event; a 1 in 50 year flood event; a 1 in 100 year flood event; and a 1 in 500 year flood event.
You can also use the maps to check how your property may be affected in a flood event. The new maps are available to download below.
