Eastern Region Climate Change Adaptation Project

The City of Burnside is participating in a project lead by the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters and the Adelaide City Council. This Project aims to increase the resilience of businesses, the community and the natural environment across the eastern region of metropolitan Adelaide to the impacts of climate change.

Covering the seven Eastern Region Alliance councils and Adelaide City Council, the Eastern Region Climate Change Adaptation Project will develop an Integrated Vulnerability Assessment (IVA) in conjunction with key sector and regional stakeholders and the community. The IVA will use the very latest climate change science to determine the climate change risks and severity of climate change impacts on the residential and business communities, the local environment, local economy, and state and local government operations in the eastern region.

The findings in the IVA help promote a regional awareness of issues and will be used to develop an Eastern Region Climate Change Adaptation Plan. The Plan will provide Councils, key sector and regional stakeholders and the community with a coordinated and strategic planned approach to implementing cost effective measures to address climate change risks and reduce the severity of climate change impacts.
