To undertake an aerial tree inspection of a heritage listed River Red Gum, a temporary road closure was in place Saturday 3 February and is due Sunday 4 February between 5 am - 11 am.

The inspection of the River Red Gum has revealed several cavities and columns of internal hollowing and decay throughout the main stem of the tree.   The lower tree branches lack adequate structural wood to support the upper crown of the tree.

During the scheduled road closure on Sunday 4 February, extensive pruning of the tree’s crown will be undertaken. This will visually change the amenity of the tree however these works are essential to prevent branches from dropping, or the complete failure of the tree.
On Sunday 4 February Glynburn Road will be closed between The Parade and Park Road/Quondong Avenue from 5 am - 11 am.

Detours will be in place during these works. Residents with properties located in the road closure area will be able to enter and exit their properties in consultation with the workers on site. If you have any questions regarding these works, please contact Council's Urban Forestry Officer Matt Grant on 8366 4200 or via email at burnside@burnside.sa.gov.au
