Planning Assessment
Planning Consent involves the assessment of a proposal against the provisions of the Development Plan for the council area covered or, after 19 March 2021, the Planning and Design Code. The purpose of this process is to ensure development that:
- Results in the appropriate use of the land within a particular location (zone or precinct);
- Enhances and is in keeping with the environmental and visual qualities of the area;
- Is compatible with the orderly and proper planning of the area and with surrounding development; and
- Respects the living and working conditions of nearby residents and businesses.
In the City of Burnside, planning assessment is undertaken against the provisions of the Planning and Design Code established under the South Australian Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and Regulations 2017.
