The City of Burnside is active in the community with the enforcement of parking restrictions in line with the Australian Road Rules.

It is the driver of a vehicle’s responsibility to ensure they are aware of all parking restrictions. The Australian Road Rules are available at legislation.sa.gov.au or view our information below. Please also refer to our Parking Policy(PDF, 194KB).

Parking Permits

Residents in restricted parking streets are eligible for one Transferable Permit and an eligible applicant may apply for up to two Transferable Residential Parking Permits per residence. Businesses can apply for a permit if a business is in an area adjacent to the road in which the Burnside Business Parking Permit zones are designated.

Public Lighting

Council maintains public lighting in areas such as parks and reserves, car parks, sporting grounds and some local streets, while liaising with SA Power Networks for the maintenance of all other lights.

Occasionally we have unwanted or wrecked vehicles abandoned in our streets. These vehicles are usually dumped and can look unsightly and may well compromise road safety.

In 2020 a group of Burnside residents proposed a project and were successful in gaining funding from the ‘Your Neighbourhood’ program for the establishment of a demonstration verge garden.
