The City of Burnside is active in the community with the enforcement of parking restrictions in line with the Australian Road Rules.

It is the driver of a vehicle’s responsibility to ensure they are aware of all parking restrictions. The Australian Road Rules are available at legislation.sa.gov.au or view our information below. Please also refer to our Parking Policy(PDF, 194KB).

 

 

 

Roads & Footpaths

While we all enjoy the leafy character of our suburbs, this should not be at the expense of the elderly or disabled who have trouble walking around tree branches.

Parking Permits

Residents in restricted parking streets are eligible for one Transferable Permit and an eligible applicant may apply for up to two Transferable Residential Parking Permits per residence. Businesses can apply for a permit if a business is in an area adjacent to the road in which the Burnside Business Parking Permit zones are designated.

Parking Information & Enforcement

Park & Street Lighting

Council maintains public lighting in public areas such as reserves, sporting grounds and public pathways and a small number of
street lights are still maintained by Council.

Street Maintenance Programs

Residential street sweeping, main roads and seasonal programs including the Autumn Leaf Collection Program.

Abandoned Vehicles

Occasionally we have unwanted or wrecked vehicles abandoned in our streets. These vehicles are usually dumped and can look unsightly and may well compromise road safety.

High quality streetscapes offer a range of benefits to residents and other users, including increased safety, an improved balance between natural ecosystems and built environments, improved mental and physical health for residents and visitors, spaces for passive and active recreation, places for neighbours to interact, increased civic pride, economic growth and increased property values.

The Shed Demonstration Verge

In 2020 a group of Burnside residents proposed a project and were successful in gaining funding from the ‘Your Neighbourhood’ program for the establishment of a demonstration verge garden.
