Run by Actually Acting, Step into the spotlight with this engaging 10-week teen drama course, designed to build confidence, hone acting skills, and spark creativity.
Each week focuses on a different aspect of drama, from vocal technique and body language to improvisation and character creation.
Through games, group activities, and scene work, participants will develop their abilities in a supportive and fun environment, culminating in a collaborative sharing of devised scenes.
Strictly for ages 8-12 years.
Weekly Breakdown:
Week 1 (4th February):
Introduction & Icebreakers
Kick off with drama games and activities to get to know each other, exploring abilities and experiences in a relaxed, creative space.
Week 2 (11th February):
Vocal Awareness
Discover how to use your voice effectively and safely during performances. Learn tips to prevent strain and maximise vocal expression.
Week 3 (18th February):
Physical Storytelling
Focus on physicality by using your body to communicate nonverbally. Develop an awareness of movement and its impact on storytelling.
Week 4 (25th February):
Short-Form Improvisation
Explore the basics of improvisation through fun and interactive exercises. Understand its purpose in acting and learn how to think quickly on your feet.
Week 5 (4th March):
Character Creation
Dive into characterisation by building unique personas through improvisation. Experiment with how characters think, interact, and behave across genres.
Week 6 (11th March):
Script Work
Start working with short scripts and progress to monologues and duologues. Practice interpreting text and bringing it to life on stage.
Week 7 (18th March):
Long-Form Improvisation
Sustain characters and environments over extended scenes. Learn how to maintain momentum and deepen storytelling in improvised performances.
Week 8 (25th March):
Devised Scenes: Part 1
Collaborate in small groups to create original scenes. Focus on brainstorming, rehearsing, and developing your ideas.
Week 9 (1st April):
Devised Scenes: Part 2
Continue rehearsing your scenes from the previous week and perform them for your peers, gaining valuable feedback and experience.
Week 10 (8th April):
Showcase & Wrap-Up
Enjoy a final warm-up game before diving into a participant-led showcase. The exact content will be tailored to the group’s preferences and progress.
