Icons identify our way of life. They are images and symbols that are important to us.

In this exciting new exhibition, artists Melissa walker and Deborah Miller will be looking at some of the things that have become symbols and Icons in our Australian way of life. Deborah will be dealing with such things as the red-back spider, the blow fly, the white pointer shark, The Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Opera House and Ayers Rock in textiles and jewellery. Melissa will be exploring various aspects of the beach and its natural inhabitants through colour and texture, by combining quilting, fabric layering, embellishment and different methods of colouring fabrics.

Exhibition opened on Friday 1 July at 6pm. Launch guest is Robyn Henwood, Textile Designer, Sheoak Design Studio.
