Gurrs Road Street Art Project - A Path to Reconciliation

stobie art participants

1. Overview

A Path to Reconciliation is a community-led street art project celebrating plants native to our local area, their Kaurna name and connection to Kaurna culture. It aims to spark curiosity to learn more in the spirit of reconciliation.

This webpage contains further information on the plants, their connection to Kaurna culture, a map of where to find them in our neighbourhood and links to further reading and resources.

This project is grateful for the support received by Kaurna community members and Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi (KWK) language organisation, and the City of Burnside Community Grant funding and staff assistance.

Style-a-stobie is an SA Power Networks and local council initiative. Local schools, community groups and residents have been generous with their time and enthusiasm in designing and painting these stobie pole panels and building their understanding of our local plants and connection to Kaurna culture.

2. Acknowledgement of Country

The contributors to this project acknowledge the land on which we met, talked and painted on is the traditional land of the Kaurna People. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and recognise their connection to Country and culture continues today.
