Magill Stone Mine Reserve

The mine workings in the reserve are listed on the State Heritage Register. Mining for high quality building stone and some copper ore began in the early 1840s.

The area was developed as an olive orchard in the late nineteenth century. Some of the original Mallee Box trees (Eucalyptus porosa) have survived on the reserve as well as many locally native wildflowers. A section of old olive grove is protected in the floor of the valley.

The paths are class 3 walking trails. Users can expect to encounter natural hazards such as steep slopes, unstable surfaces, minor water crossings and snakes in warm weather.

Entry into the reserve is prohibited on days of total fire ban.
