Improve your mental health and resilience by learning skills to identify and take action in response to conversational and coercive control.

Relationship stress is one of the biggest factors affecting mental health. Dr. Pitman will discuss the different levels of Conversational Control in relationships, what it is, how it works, and what happens when the level of Conversational Control is high enough to make a relationship unworkable, abusive, and coercive. Given that we all know someone having relationship difficulties or are experiencing that ourselves, the talk and the book will provide a framework of understanding and ways of dealing with it that offer clarity and confidence. The most debilitating thing in a relationship is confusion about the dynamics at play. When we are confused, making decisions or taking action can be difficult or even impossible.
