Opening Event: Friday 15 January, 6 pm

Peter Barrien is a prize winning photographer who describes photography as ‘a creative and intellectual joy, which constantly challenges my view of the world.

There is extraordinary diversity in the cultures of South East Asia. In particular Vietnam and Myanmar (Burma) reflect the full palette of human experience - hardship, aspirations, poverty, spiritual life and family. Their cultures are shaped by their ancient heritage, years of conflict, and profound political and social change. Somehow the world seems more alive in a market in Vietnam or the Shwedagon complex in Myanmar.’ In this exhibition, Peter’s desire is to reflect the character of these particular Asian communities. His medium is the candid portrait. The rest is up to the viewer.
