Saturday 18 January 2 pm - 3.30 pm

Celebrate our creative community as Catherine explores the themes emerging from their stories.

If you would like to attend, feel free to do so and no bookings are required. Attendees cannot be guaranteed a space or a seat. Standing should be expected.
Artists are happy to chat and offer tips and advice where possible. These sessions are demonstrations or talks that are informal and provide visitors with a chance to watch the artists at work and ask questions. Please remember they are in no way a prepared tutorial or lesson and the artists are participating on a voluntary basis.

Exhibition information:

Have you ever wondered “If fabrics could speak what stories they would tell? What stories of making, family, history or culture?”

The artist has known that fabrics bind stories within their weft and warp from an early age. Her mother is a dressmaker and many of her memories of her are intertwined with the fabrics that passed through her creative hands.

Catherine reached out to the community and asked them “If your fabric could speak, what story would it tell?”

In this exhibition, focused on community engagement and inclusion, we celebrate our creative community through stories gathered over two years. 40 participants aged from 4 to 92 share sometimes quite ordinary fabrics and the extraordinary memories that linger in the fibres.

Discover these textile tales in an audio-described experience, combining paintings, photography and digital storytelling where memories persist and fabrics endure.

Winner of the Adelaide Fringe Best Visual and Design Award 2024 and UnitCare Services Best Digital Media Award SALA 2024.
