The City of Burnside Home Support Program offers community and personal transport services, providing local residents with convenient, affordable and safe transport.
These services allow you to keep connected and engaged with your local community and provide you with a reliable form of transport to get to your scheduled appointments.
Your wellbeing and safety is our priority, and as such, our community transport volunteers participate in driver skills assessments and hold the required safety clearances.
Who is eligible?
The City of Burnside Home Support Program transport services are funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). To be eligible for services, you must be aged 65 years or older or 50 years or older if you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
Before you can receive services you will need to contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 for an assessment.
My Aged care will determine the services you are eligible for and then provide you with referral codes for these services. To access our transport services you will require a Transport referral code from My Aged Care. To commence services, please phone us with your referral code.
It's important for everyone's safety that passengers are physically able to get on and off the buses or in and out of the cars with minimal or no assistance from our volunteers. All passengers are required to remain seated and wear a seat belt when travelling in Council vehicles.
